BINOCULARS

As I age, so unfortunately, do my eyes. I find that my vision is a bit fuzzy at the end of 400 yard blinds. For a number of years, I used the Bushnell Xtra Wide Binoculars, but I never really liked them. Although the field of view was quite wide, optics were poor. Moreover, 2x magnification really didn't help me that much.
So I decided to go shopping for another pair.

A good friend of mine, John Brunjes (a field trialer and wildlife biologist), suggested I consider Eagle Optics. Actually, John recommended Svaroski - but at $1000 per pair, I had to pass. He then suggested I consider Eagle Optics. I looked at the Eagle Optics Platinum Ranger 8x42 and found that:

1) The optics were great
2) 8x really worked wonders at the end of the blind
3) The field of view was appropriate for long water blinds - which is where I expect to use the binoculars

Again, I have to thank my darling wife, who purchased them for me for Christmas.

The Platinum Ranger series has a lifetime warranty. $379 at Eagle Optics. Eagle Optics Platinum Ranger 8x42
